Video Surveillance Data

If you use our video surveillance services, we collect and process the following video-related data through the Alarm.com platform:

Types of Video Data Collected

  • Video Recordings: Continuous video recordings, event-triggered clips, and on-demand recordings captured by your security cameras.
  • Thumbnails and Previews: Still images and preview frames generated from video footage.
  • Video Metadata: Timestamps, camera identifiers, recording duration, file sizes, and event triggers (motion, person detection, etc.).
  • Analytics Data: Data generated by video analytics features, including motion detection zones, person/vehicle detection events, and activity patterns.

Video Data Processing

  • Video data is processed by Alarm.com's cloud infrastructure using automated systems for motion detection, object recognition, and other analytics features.
  • AI-powered features may analyze video content to identify people, vehicles, packages, and other objects. This processing is automated and used to generate alerts and improve service functionality.

Video Data Retention

  • Video clips and recordings are retained according to your service plan. Retention periods typically range from 7 days to 60 days depending on your plan and recording type.
  • Saved or starred clips may be retained longer based on your account settings.
  • Upon service cancellation, video data is deleted according to Alarm.com's data retention policies.

Video Data Access

  • You control who can access your video data through your account settings and user permissions.
  • Surety support personnel may access video data only when necessary to provide technical support at your request.
  • Video data may be disclosed to law enforcement when required by law or valid legal process.

Access Control Data

If you use our access control services, we collect and process the following data through the Alarm.com platform:

  • Access Logs: Records of door lock/unlock events, including timestamps, which door was accessed, and the method used (credential, code, manual, or remote).
  • User Credentials: Information about authorized users, including names, assigned access codes, key fob IDs, mobile credentials, and access permissions.
  • Entry/Exit Times: Timestamps recording when users enter and exit controlled areas.
  • Failed Access Attempts: Records of invalid credential attempts, including time and location.
  • Schedule Data: Information about automated lock/unlock schedules and access rules.

Access control data is retained according to your service plan and Alarm.com's data retention policies. Historical access logs are typically available for review through the Alarm.com portal for a limited period.

Fleet and GPS Location Data

If you use our fleet management services, we collect and process the following location-related data:

  • GPS Coordinates: Real-time and historical latitude/longitude coordinates of tracked vehicles.
  • Route History: Records of vehicle routes, including start/end points, waypoints, and travel paths.
  • Stop and Idle Data: Information about vehicle stops, idle times, and duration at specific locations.
  • Speed and Movement Data: Vehicle speed, direction of travel, and movement patterns.
  • Geofence Events: Records of when vehicles enter or exit defined geographic boundaries.
  • Driver Information: If configured, data associating specific drivers with vehicle trips.

Location Data Retention

Vehicle location history is retained according to your service plan. Older location data may be automatically purged after the retention period expires. You may download location reports before data is purged.

Employee Privacy Notice

If you track vehicles operated by employees, you are responsible for providing appropriate notice to those employees about GPS tracking and obtaining any required consents. We recommend consulting with legal counsel regarding employee monitoring requirements in your jurisdiction.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to alarm events and dispatch emergency services when appropriate

Alarm.com Platform and Data Processing

Our services are powered by the Alarm.com platform. Alarm.com acts as a data processor on our behalf for security system data, including:

  • Alarm events, sensor activity, and system status information
  • Video recordings, clips, and video analytics data
  • Access control logs and credential information
  • Fleet tracking and GPS location data
  • User account information and preferences

Alarm.com processes this data to provide platform functionality, deliver alerts and notifications, enable remote system access, and support video and analytics features. Alarm.com maintains its own privacy practices, and your use of Alarm.com services is also subject to Alarm.com's Privacy Policy.

We require Alarm.com and other service providers to protect your data and use it only for the purposes for which it was provided.

Surety is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers located in the United States. If you access our services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.

By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate. Data protection laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those in your country of residence.

Data Retention

Video recordings and alarm event data are retained according to your service plan and Alarm.com's data retention policies.
