Fleet intelligence features

Geofencing alerts

Get notified when vehicles enter or leave designated zones: job sites, customer locations, or restricted areas. Know when drivers arrive and depart without calling them.

Speed and harsh braking alerts

Receive instant notifications when drivers exceed speed limits or brake harshly. Set custom thresholds and address unsafe driving behavior before it leads to accidents or liability.

After-hours usage alerts

Know when company vehicles are used outside of business hours. Set schedules and get alerts for unauthorized use on nights, weekends, or holidays.

Route history & playback

View historical routes on a map and replay trips to verify stops, investigate incidents, or confirm customer visits. Full trip history stored and searchable.

Idle time tracking

Monitor excessive idling to reduce fuel waste and emissions. Set idle time thresholds and get alerts when vehicles sit running too long at job sites or stops.

Nearest vehicle dispatch

Quickly find the closest available vehicle to any job site. Optimize dispatch decisions with real-time location data and reduce response times for service calls.

Engine diagnostics

Get alerted to check engine codes and vehicle health issues before they become expensive repairs. Stay ahead of maintenance needs and keep your fleet on the road.

Fuel efficiency reports

Track fuel consumption across your entire fleet and identify which vehicles or drivers are costing you the most. Use data to coach better habits and cut operating costs. Available for 2010 and newer vehicles.

Mileage & trip reporting

Automatically log every trip with total mileage per vehicle and driver. Simplify reimbursement, maintenance scheduling, and IRS mileage documentation without any manual tracking.

Fleet Management Equipment

Hardware that keeps vehicles connected

The CC100 Fleet Connector is the only required hardware — one per vehicle, compatible with any gas-powered vehicle manufactured after 1996. If your vehicle's OBD-II port is positioned in a way that the connector won't fit directly, use a quality OBD-II straight extension cable, available at Amazon, Walmart, and auto parts stores. Do not use an OBD-II splitter cable — the Fleet Connector must be the only device in the port.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What vehicles are compatible?

The OBD-II Fleet Connector works with any gas-powered vehicle manufactured after 1996. Fuel level monitoring requires a 2010 or newer vehicle. The Fleet Connector also supports hybrid and electric vehicles that have an OBD-II port.

Do I need Wi-Fi or a data plan for the tracker?

No. The Fleet Connector has built-in LTE Cat-M cellular connectivity and connects to the Alarm.com platform on its own. No Wi-Fi, no hotspot, and no phone tethering required.

How difficult is installation?

Very easy. No tools, no wiring. Just plug the tracker into the OBD-II port under the dashboard. It powers on in about 60 seconds and connects automatically. Most people have their entire fleet online in under 30 minutes.

What happens if the tracker is unplugged or the vehicle battery dies?

The Fleet Connector has a built-in backup battery so it continues to report even if disconnected from the OBD-II port or if the vehicle battery goes dead. You'll also receive an alert if the connector is unplugged.

What kinds of alerts can I set up?

You can configure alerts for speeding, hard acceleration, sudden braking, geofence entry/exit, after-hours vehicle use, unexpected movement while the engine is off, trip start/end, engine diagnostic issues, low fuel (supported vehicles), and connector plugged/unplugged events. Alerts can be sent via push notification, email, or SMS.

Can I get scheduled fleet reports?

Yes. Fleet Trip Reports can be generated and emailed to any recipient on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Reports include trip history, mileage, fuel usage, fuel efficiency, and driving behavior for each vehicle.

How many vehicles can I track?

Up to 100 vehicles per business location. If you operate multiple locations, the Enterprise dashboard gives you a unified view of all vehicles across every site, organized by location.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Connected Fleet is month-to-month with no long-term commitment. Cancel anytime. Volume discounts are available for larger fleets. Contact us for details.

Do I need a Surety security system to use Connected Fleet?

No. Connected Fleet is available as a completely stand-alone product. However, if you have a Surety business security system, fleet integrates seamlessly into the same Alarm.com platform: one app, one login, one bill.

What dashboards and views are available?

The Summary dashboard shows real-time status for all enrolled vehicles. Trip History lets you review and replay any past trip with full route detail. For multi-location businesses, the Enterprise dashboard displays all vehicles across every location in one view.

What is the Hibernating status?

If a vehicle's engine has been off for a week, the Fleet Connector enters a deep sleep mode to prevent draining the vehicle's battery and stops communicating until the engine is started again.

How accurate is the Fleet Connector's location?

The Fleet Connector uses integrated GPS with accuracy of around 2 meters. Accuracy is best when the device has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky and may be reduced by factors such as proximity to tall structures or driving through tunnels.

Does the Fleet Connector support hybrids and electric vehicles?

Yes. The Fleet Connector supports hybrid and electric vehicles that have an OBD-II port.

What if the Fleet Connector obstructs normal driving operation?

If the Fleet Connector interferes with the driver or controls when plugged directly into the OBD-II port, use a quality OBD-II straight extension cable to reposition it — these are widely available at Amazon, Walmart, and auto parts stores. Never use an OBD-II splitter cable; the Fleet Connector must be the only device in the port to function correctly. Never use the device in a way that could potentially interfere with your ability to safely operate the vehicle.
